An “Embassy” is basically a diplomatic office of one country in another country, usually in the capital of the host country, where the highest diplomatic officer is the ambassador.
Embassy premises and all its diplomatic staff fall under the sovereignty of the ambassador’s home country and are protected under the concept of diplomatic immunity by the host country. Most importantly, the embassy will follow the rule of its own country and not the one of the host country.
A “Consul” is an official representative of the government of one state in the territory of another, normally acting to assist and protect the citizens of the consul’s own country, and to facilitate trade and friendship between the people of the two countries
