The “Lok Sabha” is the lower house of India’s bicameral parliament. Members of Lok Sabha are elected by adult universal suffrage, they hold their seats for 5 years or until the body is dissolved by the President on the suggestion of “Ministry of council”. The 16th Lok Sabha was elected in May 2014 and is the latest to date

MP Rajya Sabha

The “Rajya Sabha” or “Council of State” is the upper house of India’s bicameral parliament. Members of Rajya Sabha are indirectly elected by the “State & Territorial Legislature” using single transferable votes.

The Rajya Sabha has equal footing in all areas of Legislation with “Lok Sabha”, except in the area of supply, where Lok Sabha has overriding powers

The Rajya Sabha held its first sitting on 13th May 1952.

The maximum permitted strength of Members of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha is 250.
